Default why are scooby brakes so expensive!?!

Hi all, im lookin to upgrade the brakes on my 1994 classic sti. I cant seem to find any1 who sells uprated calipers that arent the big brake kits with 6 or 8 pot calipers. Dont wanna spend anythin like that at the minute as car is daily driver that im in the process of gettin to 350bhp so i can do the odd track day. i was gonna just get some new but standard subaru 4 pots for the front and 2 pots for the back with either endless pads or possibly mintex (heard good things about both). I am gonna get some godspeed disks to go with them too.

Anyway my question is this-how much should i be lookin to pay 4 calipers? theres some on fleabay at the minute for £700 for front and back, is this too much (it seems it!!). are there any other options for me without spendin 2k on a big brake conversion??

Thanks, all advice greatly appreciated!

K Sport brakes from Apex performance. There is a current group buy on these.
Good reputation on here and some of the time attack cars run them.

Hi
You should be able to get working 4 pot front calipers from about £150 a pair , and rear 2 pots from around £125 a pair , £700 is way too much , check out the for sale section on here as plenty come up for sale

As for discs , pads and rear fitting kit , I'm your man for these

Cheers Ian

I run the 8 Pots and used to have the subaru 4 pots. They're not just for hardcore use.

Its no point to spend £700 for Subaru 4pot,for £700 you have K-Sport 6 pot-8pot....
Subaru Brembo cost almost like K-Sport from some breakers, which is good just for laugh...

Not necessary, you could get the e-bay ones and have them refurbed BETTER THAN new by Ian for less than the new price.

On my car, the fronts were new Brembos from Ian, which he doesn't seem to do any more and the rears were STi Brembos from GradeA breakers, I just cleaned and repainted them and they work fine. They are still on the discs they came with, I fitted new pads.
Go for it.

The front Brembo's are a straight swap (bigger discs) But you need to make sure they will fit under your wheels.
Rear Brembo's needs a fitting kit, Ian Godney is your man for that.

As a guide, rear Brembos WILL fit under WRX 17" wheels, the front ones DON'T.
