Default Octane Booster help

seems that my local tesco is forever running out of 99 octane fuel forcing me to run 95 on low boost all the time!!! i heard that adding octane booster to the mix will help solve the problem of low quality fuel and prevent the high knock value am getting on my FC commander??.

my question is which octane booster?? where from/what quantity??.

my car is a MY95 WRX STI mapped to Shell optimax.

cheers

Guys

Do you have a shell nearby? Use v power it's the same if not better than tesco 99.

Run my 2006 wrx on both and have never had any problems!

Hth

Can you not put 97 in instead of 95 (even if you have to go to another station)? If so, then if you add a 1/3rd of a bottle of Nitrous Formula NF Race Formula OB to 50 litres of 97 RON, you gain a full 2 RON, therefore = 97 + 2 (lol) = 99 RON

Be aware, some OB mentions "points" - 1 point is NOT the same as 1 RON! 10 points = 1 RON. So in the example above, another brand of OB that may state points on the bottle, would need to be able to add 20 points for 2 RON!

thanks guys!! where i live its either 95 or 99 at tesco otherwise its a 20mile journey to the shell in town, so i get caught out often when tesco dont have it!! so if i have octane booster in the boot then if am caught out i can still boot it LOL!!

Hope you find a solution.

Oh well OP, looks like you need to sacrifice power by getting a remap on 97 (turn up with 50 litres Tesco 95 + 1/3rd of NF RF in the tank)... Then from then on, you can fill up at your local Tesco with the 95, add the NF Race Formula, so as to recreate the mapped 97 RON concoction.

Annoying though: extra expense for another map/lose some power .... But nonetheless, a practical solution if that Tesco is always out of Momentum 99.

Or just get a remap on Tesco 95 only - for less hassle - but lose out on even more power.

naptha, xylene, tolulene or methanol/ethanol at about 10% max. toluene is whats in NOS racing formula.

you can get 5 litres of xylene mixed with tolulene from maccess for £5 odds.
