Default Rear suspension

Right.

I have a MY00 classic UK

I have had my car for 4 years now, I had changed the front and rear shocks and whilst doing that got some lowering springs.
All brand new.

Problem I have had is a weird metal noise coming from the rear. I have had a few people look at it.

Question is would it be top mounts becoming lose after being quite old now.

But its not all the time you hear noise.

Please can someone help.

Have you checked that the jack isn't loose as its in the rear left quater panel and if not tight can give you a metal on metal soundtrack

Yeah mate, have had it out etc. Might take both the space saver as not much use any also the jack, I have AA so no need ha. Plus may save a tiny bit of weight.

Iirc the AA can be funny about coming out to cars with no spare wheel on board.

Anyway have you checked the rear droplinks, arb and exhaust. Also are the springs seated properly in the cups of the shocks as if not they can clang around

Have you checked the rear disc stone guards, they sometimes get bent and hit the disc or if one is broken it could be rattling around.

Do you know roughly where the noise is coming from the at the rear?

rear diff outrigger bushes.... or the plate that bolts through the bushes.
i spent months trying to trace a knock coming from the rear, it turned out to be the plate that holds the bushes in was bent upwards...
