"SMR engines". If you search that, the resultant threads don't make for happy reading.

Of course, it could be a totally different company.

But as above, if you get one from A.F., it'll be perfect and correct. Or you could simply get a 2nd hand OEM 16g off here or eBay, and flog on your existing turbo.

But it begs the Q.: does this mean you have a TD05H 16g with a front entry? If so, it's odds on it's an aftermarket one, as all OEM ones only ever had the upturned entry. (Unless of course yours is an OEM one... But a previous owner has converted it to front entry...???)

mike, PM'd back.

So to be clear, you're gonna get a used OEM TD05H 16g (that's fine), but want to convert the comp cover from the std upswept, to the later style front entry, type?

Yep that'll then fit your 53 car.

Or you could angle grind off the snorkel and weld a length of 58mm OD ring of metal back on - creates the same effect.

Just doing this for a mate at the moment. Its a good way for a bargain turbo, got a td05 for £110 Inc delivery and a front entry cover for £60 delivered. So that's £170 all in! Bit better than £300 for your average vf35 or similar.

I'm sure on eBay you could probably get a td05 for a lot less too if you kept an eye out. No worries about buying fakes if its the oe td05 with upswept inlet from an early wrx.
