Default 1200 rpm idle?

Hi all,
I was sat at the traffic lights yesterday in my 95 wrx when it seemed to splutter a little bit then started idling at 1200 rpm and has done since.
I checked the throttle linkage and made sure it was returning fully which it is. I have just checked the fault codes and and reset the ecu. Any ideas people?

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know how to do this as Ive just removed the top of the solinoid and didnt see anything to clean.
Do I have to remove the whole solinoid and valve? if so is this an easy task or am I best getting some spare parts first.

I dont want to take it to bits tomorrow and have it disabled until after the bank holiday.

Thanks again.

usually you just take the top off to clean, i usually give it a light coat of a light oil (3in1) too

Cheers fella.
Ive just been out to it and move it slightly on the slots which has brought the revs back down. If it decides to alter itself again I will give it a good clean.

was going to suggest adjusting it down.

I assume this is the only symphtom?

~I hqave see the spindle under the cap corrode and bits fall off and jam it or it get a stiff point inside but usually moving the spindle up and down frees it off

Yes this is the only problem, the spindle seemed free enough on a rotational basis never tried up and down to loosen it further. If I have further problems I will give it a good going over.
