What would be the point, shaun?

The whole aregument about BOVs is that the recirc ones do not upset the engine management. Doing what you are suggesting would do just that.

It's a one piston bov. that meens when you built up boost, it will let some air out.. That makes the car cut out, if you do it..

The arguments concern the venting of metered air. How you go about doing it is irrelevant, be it by blanking the recirc pipe on the OE valve or by fitting an aftermarket VTA unit the results are still the same.

People want VTA for the noise, a blanked off OE valve was not designed with acoustic properties in mind.... If you want VTA for the noise then fit an aftermarket.

its funny that this thread was created, coz i was having some issues with my forge motorsport one (am disappointed with it too, but thats another story). Anyway, I changed it over to the recirc one, but i didnt have the inlet hose, so i just left it on, minus it being hosed. Made funny whoosing sound (nothing like a proper BOV) and as Stylsvig says, my engine starting cuttng out when i came to a standstill at lights/roundabouts.

Best to fork out the extra couple of quid (well, double) for a decent dump valve, like a GFB or Turbosmart or HKS. Bailey and Forge will do, but you might have leakage problems BUT they are half-the-price of the others.

Avoid fleabay at all costs as the non-brand version really are "dump" valves if you know what i mean

I have had a forge.. I was unhappy with it, because it didn't let enough air out..
så i bought a HKS.. that is a very good bov.. I have a FMIC that is why i have a VTA bov on.. I would keep the standart one if it is a TMIC

Eight years on a Forge VTA here, runs fine dumps 2 bar of boost and hasn't been an issue. With an upgraded spring it only operates at WOT when there's loads of boost, i.e. not round town like a chav.
