Default Bolting a exhaust together

Just wanted to know if it would cause any problems bolting a 3" exhaust together without any slip, flexi or spring bolted joints? Would it put stress on downpipe??

are you talking about the join at the backbox to the centre pipe?

If not theres a donut at the join between the down pipe and centre, i have spring bolts on mine if it helps any

+1 for the above same as mine ,then a simple oval gasket connecting centre section to backbox + 2 x 14 mm bolts.

On a classic the downpipe is bolted to the chassis underneath ,so by using spring bolts if your centre section moves (ie hitting speed humps)then you have a bit of give in the system.

Thats interesting as my new downpipe off a classic bolts onto the chassis as did my previous one, which was a newage. I bought a gasket kit from RCM which came with 2 flange gaskets and standard bolts, no donut or spring bolts?
