IDLE PROBLEM, ECU RESET ?
#2
Ross,
You should find the info if you cut and paste the following :
http://www.shell.linux.se/wkc/subaru/ecu.htm
This should show any stored fault codes and might put you in the right direction. Possibilities are O2 sensor, MAF sensor or if you have an atmos. BOV these tend to give poor idle if they're leaking, do you have a boost/ vacuum gauge?
Hope this is of some help,
Alan

You could try it (disconnect for half an hour?) to see if it cures your problem.
My guess would be though (and to be fair, it is only a guess) that if the above procedure is required, then simply disconnecting the battery will not do it properly.
I think if you get a main dealer to do it, they will use a select monitor.
MRT also detail the procedure on their website.
Click on ECU's info.
Click on "How to reset your ECU"
