IDLE PROBLEM, ECU RESET ?

My STI v4 doesn't tick over very well. Its as if somethings not 100% . Would reseting the ecu do the trick ? if so how do i go about doing this?

You should find the info if you cut and paste the following :
http://www.shell.linux.se/wkc/subaru/ecu.htm

This should show any stored fault codes and might put you in the right direction. Possibilities are O2 sensor, MAF sensor or if you have an atmos. BOV these tend to give poor idle if they're leaking, do you have a boost/ vacuum gauge?

Is it posible just to disconnect the battery and leave it to reset itself.

You could try it (disconnect for half an hour?) to see if it cures your problem.

My guess would be though (and to be fair, it is only a guess) that if the above procedure is required, then simply disconnecting the battery will not do it properly.
I think if you get a main dealer to do it, they will use a select monitor.
