Default coated v un coated pistons

whats the advantages to using coated piston skirts over un coated on a forge piston like wisco?

The main reason is to reduce drag, most aftermarket pistons now have skirt coating of some description; however some of these are designed for the break in period only. Swain tech and tuff skirts for example are designed for more long term applications were as some Je, and weisco offer break in coatings with their of the shelf pistons and others will be special orders, it’s worth checking this first.

well my weisco 50's dont have a coating and wondered if it mattered
