Default Best turbo for 360/370bhp on a v5 Sti

Next year im gonna upgrade the turbo on my version 5 sti and wanted to know which would be the best option for achieving 360-370 with fast spool and good point to point performance.i was swaying towards one of harveys ported TDO5 18g`s but does anyone have a better option for the power and performance im after.

With all the right supporting mods, an 18g will hit your power target.

A VF34 is also worth considering - It may fall slightly short on peak power, but will give improved spoolup over the 18g, and would make for a quicker 'point to point' car IMO

Tony im gonna fit some 550 injectors and fuel reg with the new turbo or get some 440`s flowed by mark at lateral,it currently has a simtek ecu fitted to a standard engine box clutch and vf28 running 1.6bar producing around 320/315,it also has fmic,gtspec2 headers and up pipe, nur spec r 3" from turbo back zorst with res and 2.5 bits of the system removed, rcm induction kit and lightened pullys, think thats it.

but dont they suffer with the surge problem like the vf35,i had a 35 on my last car and it was terrible in 5th gear and sometimes 4th if the temps were low.

What was the car like before the simtec ,as my wagon on ecutec software making similar power at 1.3 bar with vf28, tmic, std headers, panel filter.
My blitz boost gauge only reads to 1.5 bar max,so never gonna pull 1.6 bar .

Glen forget about the oldschool 18g's etc, clinics range is far superior,sc36 all the way mate.
That with a "peoper map" and less boost lol will be awesome and trasform it into a proper fast car.
Get some meth in it lol.

Im hearing lots of good things about the billet turbo`s from the clinic Pete, and im seriousley swaying that way mate.I think we all know about the useless map the car has on it at the moment,i cant wait till simon gets hold of the car and sorts it out properly,1.6bar on a little 28 does seem a bit extreme

Yes mate 1.6 bar on a vf28 is just blowing unnecessary "hot" air about not good imo,and yes some of us will know about the A-Z map that will be on your new beast as others have found out

Billet range is fairly priced too glen,

I went through the chasing 350+ with me old P1 and its not easy, best combo i had was on an old MD304 turbo wich was based on the VF22 but with diff internals and a ported inlet etc, never had the P1 dyno'd with that tubby on but it was runnin the 440's at 100% cycle duty at 4 bar pressure too ,360 bhp at a guess, spool was good and it dint surge like the vf35.

I then wanted 400 bhp and bolted a standard fit GT29 which made the power well 392 iirc on zens rollers @ 1.6 bar but was horrid to drive/way too laggy.

Pete.. im after similar spool to the 35 but without the surge problems and also a little more overall torque and bhp, would love to get the car up to around 360/370 with fast spool and good driveabilty, and a level of boost that wont torture the standard engine into submission.someone above mentioned a vf34 but i thought they suffered with surge issues also, plus the fact they are like chickens teeth to find, you deffo think the sc36 will fit the bill for what im aiming for mate.

As said close to the beginning of this thread by FB, either a second hand VF34 of known history or one of my TD05 18Gs with ported exhaust and uprated actuator. £725. 12 months warranty.
