On saturday i changed the spark plugs on my car(96 u.k. model). while i was at it i cleaned the boost control solenoid with a bit of carb cleaner. It ran perfect for the rest of saturday (approx 30 miles). On sunday the problem started. When running in traffic its fine but when you open it up and hold full throtle the engine is trying to cut out causing a bad judder and back fireing in the exhaust.I think it may be over boosting because it only happens when accelarating hard.Do you think i have knackerd the solenoid by cleaning it.

Dude you should take this to drivetrain they will give you a better answer.

Incidently i cleaned mine and it was doing the same and boost went down to 0.5 bar very poor revs dropping to 0 rpm then kicks back in. Basicly I think it's kippered maybee get a ebc or bleed valve and bypass it all together thats what I've done although the problem is still there slightly.

Thus is why it's in the garage.

I'd suggest it's the plugs you fitted - overboost won't give backfiring. What type and gap plugs? Try refitting the originals.

Simplest method, if it worked before you did something then doesnt work after, its the last thing you did
Id change your plugs back too!

They where NGK plugs the same part number as the ones i removed. The gap was 1.0mm. It ran perfect for at least 30 miles afterwards. Its getting worse all the time.

Hi ,the problem is your plug gap should be 0.8mm at most,1mm is too large a gap and will cause poor running.
