220000 miles and I don't realy want to stress her to much, so might just put a better tail pipe on her for the sound and keep the rest as standard to keep her going.
Can anyone advise on a good sounding pipe, (or Cat back system), that has a nice burble, but is not to loud at low revs and cruising (my wife hates them and the amount of ear ache I would get is not worth it), but sounds good above 3000 rpm.

 

Prodrive backbox fits the bill perfectly , quite subtle on tickover & a progressive growl as the revs rise. They are readily available off eBay, pistonheads , etc . Failing that you could buy your mrs a old banger for herself and fit a nur spec r to your impreza as you wont be able to hear her moans over the exhaust note
