Default boost drop

i have a 95 wrx with td06 16g, pp chip, IK, 3 inch system with decat. all was running well until today. in all gears with foot down, i get boost to 1.1bar and car pulls well. i was in 4th gear and put the foot down when boost dropped off to 0.5bar.

After say 20minutes driving on 0.5 bar suddenly i get 1.1 bar again. 1st, 2nd 3rd 4th was fine then i boot in 5th and it cuts back to 0.5 bar. I had this problem briefly a week or 2 ago and reset ecu and all was fine.

took it for a drive tonight and im on 0.5 bar. what is going on.

No ecu codes when black and greens are connected. Boost solenoid cleaned out no black stuff coming out. 2.0mm restrictor in bottom port also fitted.

When i turn the key on you can hear fuel pump priming as normal, what should I be checking as i still get all the revs but just wastegate pressure 0.5 bar on boost.

Could my fuel pump need upgrading?
lambda sensors?
im starting to go insane - i gather the car must be sensing trouble hence dropping boost to 0.5 bar?

its not fuel cut where the car feels like its hit a wall the boost just drops really.

Thanks in advance lads

Evening Peter,
Did you fully delete the dodgy DV last time or have you still got it on but jammed shut?

You checked all the boost/vacuum pipes for splits and security?

Do you have any sucking/blowing noises?

If the restricor in the bottom BCS pipe has become blocked, that will cause issues, you could just remove the pipe as a test. (may cause over boost or spike)
Steve.

Sounds like it's just running actuator pressure

it's the fact that its intermittent thats what is doing my head in. I did notice a kink in the bottom hose out of the bcs and have rectified, within 10 miles or so back to full boost - again all was well when it happened again!!
i have connected the greens under the wheel and the bcs is clicking rapidly along with fans cylcing, is this normal?
I am going to try cleaning with carb cleaner in test mode see if that helps.

Same as Peter, it's almost like an obstuction moving around the system, or a loose/split pipe that moves around under pressure.

Yes, when in 'test mode' most of the relays etc come in and the fans run.

Do you still have the original black boost/vacuum hoses to and from the BCS or have replaced them, and did you fully delete that DV?

Steve.

edit. Code 45 can be any of the 3 on that mounting plate, BCS, MAP or PES. The choice my friend, is yours.

^^^^^^^^rofl

Yeah i see it, have edited my previous post.

The extra boost/power seem to see the weaker sensors off pretty quick. Pleased you got a code. Not as pleased as you though, obviously.

How spooky is that, both post matty at the same time.

The Pressure Exchange Solenoid, it's the brown thing that sits on top of the assembly, the pipe comes off the MAP and joins to it.

the second one is no good as it uses a different map sensor and boost control solenoid, for a v3 onwards

Sounds to me as if the actuator is staying open and not closing properly?

I had the same symptoms on mine (well the boost never came back) found the actuator rod had actually come off the actuator leaving the actuator open all the time which only produced .5 bar
