has anyone hird or even used unichip rather than ecutek, on there newage impreza?

NO, don't bother. OpenSource or ECUTek for a simple remap.

As above dont waste your time chipping your car, or you'll waste even more time & money rebuilding your engine. Just get to a decent mapper and job done in an hour, anything from £300 - £500. But well worth it...
