Default ej25 swap

hi there i own a p1 and the engine has finaly given up after 100k miles its dropped a rod so im weighing up my options, to get my engine re-built ive been quoted up to 3k or area 52 are offering a ej25 short motor supplyed and fitted for £2500 my question is will it need a remap or will the maff sort the extra air flow out

It'll need a remap, I'd have thought that should be factored inti the bill

As above, your ecu will definately need to be remapped to suit.
