Default turning on air con. help

Hi All, i dont seem to be able to turn on my a/c. if i press the a/c button on the dash the light does not illuminate. i checked all fuses they are fine, does the relay affect this light or just the compressor??? i have a 99 T impreza turbo 2000 uk model. all belts and tensioners are fine.... any advice is much appreciated. thankyou

Think you have to turn the fan on,turn it to cold, then press the A/C button (haven't used mine for sometime though so not too sure)

if you turn the fan on & have it on coldest setting put the aircon on. Open bonnet - if the compressor is not spinning up & the light aint working, it will need a gas re-fill.
Had the same issue on mine, i new i bought the car with a knackered aircon rad, so got another rad, fitted it & bought 2 canisters of 134A ezee chill refrigerant off ebay & filled it up. Now works perfect.
