Bonnet air scoop
hi,
i've got an impreza uk turbo 1998, which has the air scoop on the bonnet, quick question but there isn't a guard or any sort of mesh to stop things going in it, should there be ? (ie i can see inside the engine compartment thought the scoop)

It's std like that.
It'll only be a rogue stone that could get flicked up and through it. It would likely only dent some of the IC's fins though.
Nothing stops you from fitting some mesh in there though, if it bothers you. So long as the mesh holes are not stupidly tiny, then airflow won't be affected to any significant performance-reducing degree..
TBH though, the chances of a stone getting flicked through are reeeally low - and it's not as if it could get into the engine anyway! (as said the IC stops it in it's path, or will go down the back behind the IC and fall back to the road).
