Hey all,

My dad has an 02 WRX which, to me, sounds like its knocking. Although, only slightly when the throttle is applied very mimimally at standstill, when more throttle is applied the noise is not there. Although, from what I know of knocking, I thought that you can hear it from idle and when revved, hard or soft?

Any ideas chaps? Car drives normally otherwise. Could something be loose ?

could be different but mine only knocked between 2000to 2800rpms before that or after youd never know, even still got over 90mph out of it!! where u live

 

has it every had a rebuild as mine dose it when cold as i have forged steel pistions and told that this is comon but as soon as warmed up its gone

 

if it was knocking managment light would be on and in limp mode

 

Never been rebuilt. Only when warm really. Why would the ECU put it into limp mode, never heardof that one before? Would the ECU think its det or something?

 

never haerd of management light on, never happened to me on both times
