Default water problem

i have noticed today doing my usal checks that my bottom rad hose barrety side is cold even after the engine has been runnign for some time now im thinking this is the thermosat not wokring does this seem about right, oh and how much water and anitfreeze to fill up the system again

might be slightly different on a classic but on a new age the coolant capacity is 7.7L

I am having the same problem, the classics take 7.5 ltr so im told.
Intermitant overheating and both bottom and top hose feel pressurized, sometimes its hot on lower hose sometimes its not?

well mine has turn out to be the thermostat but if your hose are pressurized and its over heating it might be the dreaded head gaskets get a liquid block test done, my was not over heating or any thing like that but you could try cheap things first like new rad thermostat bleed the system

Its getting checked tomorrow with some fancy device from audi main dealer (my buddy works there) Im hoping its the rad,thermostat or airlock...not the dreaded hg..that would do me in, i just spent £875 on it getting the gearbox and clutch sorted

the best test is the old fashion liquid test a tube as the computers dotn also spot a slight leak but i hope its not your heads dude ive been there and thats why my engine is forged i though i might as well seen as the block was coming out
