Default engine advice needed

Hi all, i have a version 6 sti,i aready know that the head gasket need replacing ,just wanted to know if its possible just to av the bottom end bearings changed? or dooes it av to be a full engine rebuild?
and does anyone no of a reasonably priced garage in or around the north west?

Pistons have to come out anyway m8 so for what it costs i would do the con-rod bearings as well, Be a shame to build it and then a rod bearing decides to spoil you day

Hi mate u could just change the bearings but you would have to be very thourugh.for the sake of rebuilding I would personally go the whole hog but that's if I had the money,by the way I've got a 99 Sti v6 aswell great car, have you tried penning Subaru as they are based in hebden bridge. Give them a call on 01422845007 and speak to chy. They are *hit hot.

cheers guys just rang re performance up to day and they said they will do the head gasket for £825.. is that a reasonable price or is there cheaper elsewere thanks eddy

dont go there if its the one in bury will work out dearer with them been there done it yhpm

howard is your man @ hdc subaru in hebden bridge he does all my engine work, he is currently rebuilding a v3/4 sti engine for me, wouldn't use anyone else now.

there **** hot alright,if you want to keep going back down to him after your engine keeps failing through the poor workmanship.get it done properly from a reputable company like enginetuner or API who know what there doing.
