ecu mapping etc
hi all can anyone tell me how i can id my ecu. and can you replace the internals in the standard case??? (my old evo had 7 ecu in a diff case) have not had a good look as been flat out so not sure whether you can even change the guts off the ecu on a scooby just wondering as removed the induction kit and is noticibly slower as thought this may be causing the slight miss and rough idle but is exactly the same so thinking it may have been mapped with the induction kit and the problem is something else but i know you cant map the earlier ecu so got me thinking ? my car is a 1997 sti v limited by the way

the v3 and 4 (1997 and 1998) ecus are not mappable and the only cost effective way to change it is to fit an after market ecu like simtek, apexi, syvecs etc.
The evo's has used the same plugs from very early to evo9 and can be swapped to the newer one and mapped accordingly, put an evo7 ecu in an evo4 last week for example.
Unfortunatly the subaru ecus are different and the plugs changed
93~96 are the same
97 and 98 the same
99 and 00 the same
01 to 05 the same
06 on similar but with differences.
