Hello

I keep getting quite large static shocks from my MY00 when I stop driving and touch the door to close it.
Are there any earthing straps or similar that I need to check or is it just my electric personality!

Thanks in advance for any help
regards
Steve

Avoiding electric shocks...
Option 1, hold onto the door just before you put your foot on the ground. Keep holding and step out...ta-da no shock!
Option 2, close the door using the window and avoid touching anything metal for a minute or so.
Option 3, stop wearing shoes

Unhappy

I always tap the panel with my knuckle after getting out so as to discharge the electricity.

I thought it was down the friction generated when twisting on the car seat as you get out because it happens to me in most cars with similar seat fabric especially when I wear jeans. Cotton trousers dont seem to raise the same charge and I never had it with leather seats!

Its actually the air moving around the car as you drive that builds up as an electrical charge - when you get out you discharge it (earth it out)

Why do you think it takes them so long to open the doors on a 747? - one big bang if they didnt discharge the aircraft first!!

You can get those straps that hang under the car from Halfords but i think they look a bit "gimpy"

Touch the door first and then put your foot down

Nick.
