Classic uk turbo, on 130,000 miles and as far as I know standard gearbox, a

bit whiny, which oil is best?

id use castrol syntrax ,its a 75/90

 

It struggled and dies, start up fine second time, had a map tweak in the week

cold start is fine, MAF is fine, temperature collant temperature sensor was

changed a month ago along with spark plugs, battery is fine, fuel pump is

fine, so what else is involved in start up?

For those that have forgotten it's a 1997 uk turbo.

What engine oil you using?
Have you done a compression test?

 

I don't know why, but the gearbox and the "died first time" thread's have

merged into one,

How do you get a compression test, I use Fuchs (silkolene) pro s

 

with a compression tester. If it's not something you'll do regularly yourself, it's probably best to get it done by a garage.
