no mate you can't. i think the blobeye starts in 03. what that car is, is a bugeye which has had the front end converted to blobeye. you can tell this because of the rear lights, the bugeye rear lights had no round bit at the bottom and the blobeye did.

you can get a 52 plate bugeye rightbefore othe 03 plate ones not many thought and this one has bug rear end with blob front which subaru never did.

also that front grill ain`t a turbo one looks like 2.0glx?

def not a blob as they never came in that colour either only the 2001/2002 bugs did.

Yes, there is a code, although you can check via the VIN number too.

The most authoritative way is to check via the applied model code. This is (or should be) on the ID plate on the nearside front suspension turret.

If it's a GDABK8D, it's a 2002 model year car (i.e. a bugeye) and has been converted with MY03+bonnet/wings/bumper etc.

If it's a GDACK8D, (note the C) it's a 2003MY car and should be a blobeye. However, under these circumstances, one would be asking the seller why it has the earlier rear lights and bumper.

Either way there are things that don't add up.

Do a hpi check to see if its ever been damaged, maybe this is how its had the front end changed. Its really cheap and you know the saying, you only get what you pay for. In scotland there is a company who charge £40 a panel to repair dents and scratches, so it would have been worth him getting them done as i think theres a bit more money in it if its a straight car....

False advertising its advertised as a blobeye when its actually a bugeye am sure trading standards would help you if ya don't get your deposit back mate good luck tho pal.

agreed that there is probs a chance u can get a 52 plate blob if it was registered early enough - however i personally dont think its a genuine blobeye as it has bug eye rear lights, and that grill aint a wrx grill either.
It seems suspiciously cheap, id be inspecting it to see if its had a smash in the front end and been replaced with a blobeye front as this isnt hard to do.

The scratches therefore potentially could be from it going thru a hedge or something as opposed to being keyed lol....

Its not necessarily going to show up on a vehicles history either.

There ya go then, id personally be walking away from it mate tbh...
That coupled with no mention of previous service history other than the recent one, mods such as the induction kit but without indication of any remap to suit...

All the best though..
