Hi, my dad has a 2003 STI PPP which has a WR1 ecu fitted and he's never really taken it close to the red line but had a little play today an looked down to realise it had reved to 8k! and still wanted to go, but because he realised he let off, the red line on the gauge is about 7.5k, i know my ppp wrx will rev to 7300k rpm even though the red starts at 7k. can anyone explain this?? i thought only the jdm sti's reved to 8k

Why has he got a wr1 ecu fitted to his car?? i might be wrong but surely thats just asking for trouble! Bit like putting a jdm sti ecu into my uk car

 

as a upgrade- the wr1 ecu is just a sti ppp ecu but slightly tweeked to be used with a 3 port, its very different to drive the ppp it had before.

 

The subaru rev limiter is very high .Had UK STI rev it to 8,ooo a few times but did hit limiter

JDM STI with ecutec and it does hit a rev limiter

 

The redline starts at 7.5k on a UK car but the limiter is a few hundred rpm higher, exactly where im not sure, the JDM's are at 8200rpm.
