Default rattle on switch off

have a rattle on switch of,can drive along no problems at all then when i stop and turn the car off as the engine shuts down i can hear a rattle, just before everything goes quiet. have also noticed that when at idle after a good run you can hear a tick from down below the turbo like when your exhaust is cooling down, took car to the garage and he says the weld on the uppie heat sheild is broke, any one had a similar thing happen to them, should i be worried or does this sound like this is the problem.

if thats what that the guy has said then its most likely the problem - sounds about right as its probably getting shaken as the engines comes to a stop which is giving your rattle

Would make it easier to answer your question if we had some idea of the age of the car Attwood. It's also next to impossible to diagnose "noises" over the web as we clearly can't hear it - and even if you posted a video we could couldn't localise it.

It's certainly possible you have a fractured weld on the up-pipe heatshield, but whether this is the real explanation we couldn't tell you.
