3" to 2.5"??
If i add a 3" catback system to my otherwise completely standard 03 wrx, can i just mate the new 3" section to the remaining 2.5" section using one of these?

will that be ok and do the job?

no mate thats for the other way around the makes a 3inch downpipe into 2.5 to meet cat back
best just to buy a 3 inch decat
or weld a sleeve on to make it full 3 inch
(this is what im doing)
as i had 3 - 2.5 back to 3

Isnt the standard downpipe 2.5" diameter though? with the same flange at the end? Could you not just use that adaptor the other way round therefore? Or would there be the problem of the bolt holes not lining up as i can see that as being the only real potential issue?

That adapter needs the doughnut gasket to slip on to the sleeve - which then fits into the socket on a std 2.5" centre section.
It won't work the other way around.
You need a 3" to 2.5" taper which takes up space, so needing the same length removed somewhere else in the system.
It really needs the matching 3" downpipe to work TBH.
