Default Intercooler Spray on a UK Classic with ABS

Anyone found somewhere under the hood to hide the water bottle? I want to put a kit from a Type RA under my UK Turbo bonnet but not sure of spave issues, apparently the ABS pump is where the filler bottle sits?

Any advice would be appreciated and i am ready to put a tank in the boot but only if i absolutely must!

Cheers

Easiest option is not to bother with the water spray for the amount of difference it (doesn't) make, especially if all you're going to do is wire it up to a button. Needs to be automatically controlled to justify itself really.

As you say the classic spray bottle sits in the space currently occupied by your ABS pump. If you're going to do it, fitting a newage tank and pump in the boot is probably the more practical option. You can run the pipe into the engine bay easily as there should be a spare (blanked) grommet next to where the fuel supply and return pipes go.

It just seems to run so much better in the rain though!

It most certainly will run better in the rain, but if you're attributing that to rain running through your IC and giving you (in effect) DIY water spray, you're giving that aspect far too much credit as there are other more significant reasons why you feel the difference.

Don't forget that when it's raining, the intake air tends to be cooler and denser to start with especially compared with a hot summer's day. If you've only had the car for a couple of months and think that it runs better in the rain, just wait til you drive it on a freezing, dry winter's night!

As your UK ECU doesn't have any form of temperature compensation, it will naturally give you more boost and power the colder the ambient air gets. Classic STi ECUs have an inlet air temp sensor which helps balance the performance a little better (and also forms part of the automatic water spray control strategy).
