think max boost on a wrx jdm should be 1.2 (once mapped)

thing is though it might have a jdm ecu i.e mines if so then they are tuned for 100ron and have an aggressive map

if it still is the jdm ecu get a remap asap (will need a uk ecu and or esl daughterboard) someone correct me if im wrong

cheers

steve

v power is still only 99 coupled with a jdm ecu (which could be very aggressive)

take a picture of the ecu (its under the passenger firewall)

or post up the codes

could be that the person before you has already remapped it and its fine

but if not it needs a remap asap

the 0.7bar has got me thinking - could be a boost leak (which in turn could save you loads of pennies) because of the poss jdm map

or could be wastegate actuator pressure

the wrx wagon runs a different turbo and map compared to the saloon. it runs 10psi, dropping to 6.8psi at the top end.
the saloons run about 12psi to the red line. if you want you can fit a saloon turbo and ecu. its a straight swap.

ecu says - 3B . 22611 AC281 . A18-000 D19 . 6410

Does this sound stock?

95 WRX GF8 should have a TD05 16g and run c.0.8 IIRC.

Sorry to contradict but MY95 jdm WRX GF8 turbo is TD04 as standard.
Best option is to upgrade to a TD05 and either fit a Z4 ECU or get an upgrade chip for your ECU from Major Sarcasm which gives better performance than a Z4.
Hope this helps

john5f is correct.

And because the MY93-96 WRX wagons are 220PS, 0.7bar sounds about right - because, for comparison, the 240PS WRX saloon is 0.79bar, so make sense.

Hey Joz,
Surely the WRX saloon is 260psi (according to Scoobypedia and Catherine and Ken)?

Yeah, the MY95/96 one is.

But I wasn't saying that. I was just simply using the MY93/94 240PS saloon as an example to compare the boost target to that of the 220PS WRX wagon - i.e. 240PS = 0.79bar; 220PS = 0.7bar - so you can see why the WRX wagon would be c.0.7bar... Comprende?

Ah, see what you mean. I didn't realise you were only using it as an example for comparison.
I had in mind that with a TD05 and ECU upgrade, the OP could reasonably expect the 260psi on his MY96 wagon.

Yes - as all other hardware is the same as the saloon, so the matching ECU/16g combo will work 'properly'.

I just put a td05 and matching ecu on my 96 wagon wrx jdm. Make sure you get new bolts for the turbo as the old ones will end up being knackered by the time you get them off if they have never been undone before, pita. Also I put in a k & n panel filter and is now a much better drive with boost to redline now...
