Default injector 4 problem

I fitted a decat on my wrx 2000 turbo 97 model. after fitting it started cutting out at high revs which everyone said it was overboosting and needed a remap. after being told a remap would cost me around a grand mark i put the standard cat back on for the time being!! well it still did the cutting out, so tonight my mate run a diagnostics test on it, it said it was clear no faults. so i drove around with it connected and after it done it he run a test and it came up with injector 4, now the check engine light is staying on and the fault wont delete!!
Any advice please?? Thanks

Hello mate, turns out the problem was a split boost pipe so all running fine now.
The guy at subaru4u who found the prob said hed never come across that code on an
Impreza of my age in 20 years and so he didn't know why it come up :s .
Anyway he managed to delete the code after rectifying the boost pipe and it has not reappeared and all is running fine now!! There in newbury if your nearby, really helpful!
Cheers

chaging the exhaust, especiallyu a decat will make the turbo spool faster thus more boost, witch will cause det, witch will cause det. Det = cracked pistons among other damages. And a remap at 1000??? thats very steep!

i own a my97 and that is the going rate 1k, as these models cant be mapped using the existing ecu. so the only way round it is to buy a whole new ecu like a apexi. its a real pain in the ****, well the hell subaru done it to my96-my98 i don't know, and nor do i see the logic in doing it, as earlier models
could be done without the hassle and great expense of a new ECU.
