23 is your MAF and route cause. Do not drive on boost watsoever til this is replaced...

53 Is a immob/key code maybe prob related to your uk car/sigma etc.. More then likely historic code from a jump start or the likes...

Reset ecu. Replace maf and your sorted i would think..

Code 23 is the mass airflow sensor, and the symptoms you are reporting are consistent with this failing/having failed.

If you've seen the check engine light come on when the engine was running, and have found that code in the memory, you should replace the MAF sensor without any delay and drive entirely off-boost until you've done so. Replacement is part number 22794AA010 from your Subaru dealer, or cheaper from somewhere like Import Car Parts or AS Performance, around a hundred quid. Reset ECU after you've fitted the new one.

Also if you are running an induction kit or something other than a standard Subaru air filter, you should have a good read round here as to what best to do.

Code 53 is an immobiliser fault and will not be related to your running problems.
