If it's the immobiliser, one or both of the key symbol and the check engine light should be flashing. As has been said the fuel pump relay is up under the driver's side of the dash. Can't remember off top of head whether the fuse is in the underbonnet or internal box - but either way it will be on the list(s) on the fusebox cover or coin tray.
99blue - if you are talking about the standard (i.e. factory fit) transponder based immobiliser, there are no "spliced wires". Do you mean the Sigma alarm? Suggesting that the OP mucks about with wires at this juncture is a little premature.

thanks guys think i found the problem eventually found the 3 relay's and the top one is the fuel pump and it just does 2 small clicks when ignition is turned on which i presume its knackered ?

If so, that is the pump relay - and the clicks are when it switches on (and then off again) to pressurise the fuel rail. However, it should click on again as you start the engine. Can you hear/feel this happening as you engage the starter?
If you haven't yet located and checked the fuse, do so. If that comes up good, take the relay out and either try a replacement or swap it with one of the others (foglamp, electric window etc) under there.
As 99Blue suggests, it's also possible you have a fault with one of the immobilisation relays in your alarm (assuming you have a UK car), but I would rule out all other explanations before you go there.

no its just a click as though its to come on and then not even a second and it clicks again to go off, had found what fuse it was and its ok checked all the fuses just to be sure but the one i was told of was number 15 inside the car, haven't swapped the relay as that 1 was a pig to get out but im sure it sounds knackered, and yeah i got a uk car but only has factory immobliser on it

I had the same problem, after slicing the life out of my arm trying to reach the relay, swapped it for one of the others next to it and it made no difference,.
Then just by luck looked at the black multi plug under the the rear seat and it had melted just enough so that ther connection was broke. cut the plug out soldered new wire and connections in and it started!
worth a look, as it wasnt very obvious that it had melted!

then you can se where the power is comming from . or lack off.
have you got a blue sigma fob ??????????????

mine screwed up , but the sigma alarm box takes over from the fuel pump relay , but the fuel pump relay draws to much current and burns a hole in the alarm pcb ,
but the trouble is u say u aaint got one ,
your gona have to trace from th main loom to the fuel pump relay to the fuse box ..
you could do with a wiring diagram .... im not back in work till onday so carnt get one untill then , be worth getting a disc off ebay , they cheap enough.

Just had the same issue this morning, gutted because I had same issue before few months ago, thought it was the fuel pump so changed that and thing were fine until today.
I'm gona look at the wiring under the back seats, think the problem may lie there. Another thing to try is perhaps a direct power feed to check whether wiring is the issue, at least thne you know its not the relays?

You say that you cannot find a fault in any of the wires, but there must be a fault in one of them or else the pump would run...
Have you checked the earths and feeds at the relay base to see what you get? as this would tell you what direction to go in next.
As has already been said, there are 2 relays in the curcuit.
Luckly the two relays are situated together on the same bracket at the bottom of the drivers "A" post.
One has a green block connector & the other if I remember correctly is brown.
The relay with the Brown connector is the main power relay which supplies both the Engine Management System & The Fuel Pump relay with 12v when the IGN is switched on, so if this one has a problem there would be more than just the fuel pump not working. If you have checked for and got a spark at the plugs then this curcuit is ok, if not then it is possible that the problem is not in the fuel pump curcuit.
The Fuel Pump relay should be a Round Metal Can type with a green block containing 4 wires. (I'm not sure how your dealer got a figure of £80 as the last time I checked they were £25)
We should concentrate on the fuel pump relay to start with, so you will need to probe the the bottom of the relay base & look for the following readings:
Black/Red = 12v IGN Feed "in" for Pump (via a fuse)
Green/Red = 12v IGN Feed for Relay Operation (this comes from the ign relay)
Light Green/Black = Earth (switched by the ECU to operate the relay)
Black/Red = 12V Feed "out" to Fuel Pump
If by any chance the colours above do not match your car then it could be that your car has the earlier set up as below:
Yellow = 12v IGN Switched Feed "in" for Pump
Yellow/black = 12v IGN Switched Feed for Relay Operation
Light Green/Black = Earth (switched by the ECU to operate the relay)
Black/Red = 12V Feed "out" to Fuel Pump
Don't forget that the the ign switch needs to be at position II & that the Light Green/Black (ecu trigger) wire will only pull down to earth for 1-2 secs when you initially switch the ign on, as it tries to prime the fuel system. It should have a permanent earth whilst cranking the engine over.
Let us know what readings you get and we will go from there

Yes Matt, it should be live with the ign key in position II.
Can I suggest that you start you own thread insted of hyjacking someone elses.
Things could get complicated otherwise

Did you do what mirrorman mentioned up top cause i had the same as him, fuel pump died due to connector under rear seat and until you take the actual wires out of the connector, you wont notice the melted plastic on them
