hey all,

i need a bit of advice and help!
i am a UK expat now living in thailand and last week i bought a '97 wrx sti

however it has started to misfire (i think)
the symptoms are that sometimes when you accelerate from low revs the car hestitates, and then the power comes on and off - making the car jump around violently sometimes - at high revs there seems to be no problems.

is this possibly the spark plugs or ignition coils?

I would probley start by checking the plugs mate. If they look old or worn change them. See what happens.

ok the mechanics are at my house now changing all of the plugs, i have had a look at the coil pack/ignition coils and it all seems to be different to the ones i am seeing in pictures on stock imprezas - i have red wires instead of black which just push onto the head of the spark plugs (i have seen some online that have to be bolted into position), have these wires been changed?

 

sti models have red ht leads and wrx's have black mate...
