Default 2.5 STI short motor on 2.0 - What about variable exhaust cams?

Hi,

My STI8 has AVCS on the inlet cams only. The 2.5 engines also have variable exhaust cams. If I bolt on an EJ257 STI short motor (Been looking at one from RCM or Lateral, is there a way to get variable exhaust cams as well (ECU needing to be told notwithstanding!)?

Apparently not worth doing at all.

Thanks for that. Just read the article too, looks like such a mission that I might be better off changing the car instead. Not exactly worth it just for dual AVCS.

Only 2008> 2.5 have AVCS on both cams. Hawkeye 2.5 still have just the inlet cam AVCS like yours.
Drop a line to Finch Motorsport for a good deal on forged 2.5 short blocks.

Nick........... while I can catch you on here....

I'm thinking of getting a Bugeye STi inlet manifold in place of my WRX jobby to get rid of the TGV's and then re-mapout the TGV delete.

Can you see a problem with this ??

Cheers

And that your power requirements are such that the TGV bodies really need to be removed.

Its a PITA job with quite a bit of cost that may only gain you a red manifold.

Although I did it on my old WRX wagon (340 hp), they are still fitted on the current Spec D (370 hp).

TGV often malfunction, so it is worth getting rid of them. Have seen quite a few where the tgv has been locked shut and the car strangling airflow. No need for them to be in there really.

Axel - avcs on exhaust side isnt worth the hassle and huge expense.

Makes sense. I'm going to go for a forged STI 2.5 short then. With the Cosworth 2.6 stroker kit no-less despite Mr "600 pounds of torque" accusing me of overkill - you know who are . I've never had a stroker kit or anything by Cosworth so "in for a penny...."
