forester sti engine same as the hawkeye sti type uk??
Well since no one else is replying....
I'm no expert, but this is what I do know:
The Forester STI engine is marked EJ255DWSBE whilst the Hawk STI is starts EJ257
The forester has a unique and different turbo (VF41)
Forester has AVCS but I think it might be single as only the one table in Romraider. I don't know if the Hawk is single or dual (the hatch is definitely dual i.e. intake AND exhaust)
I would think the forester has slightly different cams for a torquier tune, however....
Both Hawk and FSTI give similar power after an ecutek tune (assuming only things like exhaust are modified) i.e. 340-360bhp
Both have the Hyper-Eutectic pistons rather than forged (more brittle but better emissions as the fit is better when cold apparently)
So pretty similar, however, look at discussions over ej255 versus ej257 differences over at NASIOC, it seems like there are lots of small variations each year like slightly reshaped pistons etc. so one ej257 is not necessarily identical to another.
That is about all I know. If you would like to know more then try the subaruforester site www.subaruforester.org
