Nooo, it sounds exactly how a dumpvalve is supposed to sound. Nice gentle barely audible whoosh.
If I was going to put something else on, I would do the job properly and fit one of these.

You accidentally the spelling
From a pure functionality point of view the standard newage DVs are impossible to fault, there is no need whatsoever to replace one unless the engine is modified in a way that positively necessitates it. They are more than "alright", they are very well made (probably better than most of the aftermarket alternatives), and, significantly, perfectly matched to the engine and ECU.
You need a Blitz or Forge etc if you have an unavoidable need to spend money on unnecessary trinkets that don't do your car any particular favours.

Don't know where you heard that. In reality your TD04 is probably more capable of withstanding it for a given period of time than many roller/ball bearing turbos. However there are knock on effects and potential consequences, and on a standard-ish roadcar you might find the noise you get is wimpy and infrequent compared with what you might be expecting. If you think it'll sound like a WRC, it won't - and the possible consequences are worth reading about and understanding before doing it.
