Its a 1996 wrx running 440cc injectors, FMIC, uprated fuel pump, decat, manifold, induction kit. It had a TD04 turbo on for some reason so i changed to TD05 as the TD04 was limiting potential

Could be a buggered MAFF sensor. Tell tale signs are idling up and down and cutting out.

I think you'll need to have it mapped to suit the new turbo, has it ever been mapped for those mods?

Sounds like a pipe is off between the maf and the engine as it will suck air after the maf giving a false reading.Check the pipe from maf to turbo including all breathers then check the intercooler piping.

Map, map and map again.............NOW before it's too late and your engine is in bits.

yes it needs mapping for the mods but it should sit there idling as is.. the car ran fine before and now just the turbo changed.. it should idle fine.

check as has been said that inlet pipe is on and no splits, that pipe that connect to inlet pipe are on at both ends and no splits etc.. check intercooler is on correct and dumpvalve on correct etc

It was supposed to go in for a map but i found out i had a td04 which would limit capabilities, ive gone back to the old turbo and it runs ok again just a bit rich from the injectors gonna look into getting another td05 turbo. Yea the car idled fine after i fitted the new turbo but as soon as moved it it was smoking n all sorts. Reset ECU today and got 45 error code would that not have helped aswell?
