Unhappy oil leak PLEASE HELP

Hi all

new to the scooby since been a ford man tho n tho since driving my friends WRX i have sold the escort rs turbo and now i have:

Subaru impreza wrx sti 2ltr turbo v limited edition 1996 Colin McRae blue

ok brought the car with an oil leak which was the cam cover since i have replaced the cam cover gasket and sealed it there is still an oil leak that drips from the eshaust manifold on the driver side over night the patch of oil is the size of CD, the car boost's up fine but driving yesterday i had to pull over as there was smoke pouring from just under the turbo really oily smell i have checked all pipes connected and no damaged ones, there is no obvious dripping on to the manifold

any ideas would be great

thanks very much

Chris

Only thing I can think of would be the oil return pipe from under the turbo, it has a jubilee at the top and bottom, could be that leaking a little. Or out the side of the block is one for the coolant that is over the turbo up pipe. I would have a look at those first.

Unlikely to be an oil leak from the exhaust manifold itself, so probably that's just where it's choosing to drip to the ground.

You need to get under the car with a torch and try and work out where it's coming from. Could be a camshaft oil seal or crankshaft seal, which leaks in to the cam covers and then drips down the front of the engine to the exhaust manifold. It then runs into the heat shields and smoke comes out wherever it can.

It could also still be the rocker gasket. I had mine replace with a pattern part and it leaked like hell. Swapped it for an OEM and it is fine.

Did you get all the washer gaskets and the half moons replaced as well as the main gasket?
