Default Gears stopped engaging for a bit!

Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone can tell me what caused a certain incident that happened to me a couple of days ago.
I live in Kenya and have a version 3 type R. As i was driving it (quite fast) a few days back, all of a sudden for some reason all the gears packed up except fourth! I had to drive the car for about 5 kms on fourth as no other gear (1,2,3,5 AND reverse) would engage. After a little while i came to a standstill and switched the car off and then restarted it and everything was fine - all the gears were engaging!

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? And if so what would be the cause of this? The gearbox seems fine now - no whining or grinding noises. Maybe a touch notchy than before but i'm not sure if i'm just imagining that!

Thanks all,

Imran

Was you ragging the car Imran? Could be the gear oil giving you grief, got too hot for instance, or clutch problems. Gearboxes don't magically fix themselves so i'm assuming it is either an oil temperature issue, or clutch issue.

Hi mate,

Yes, i was pushing the car a bit. Not had a problem with the clutch at all. Plus its not the first time i've driven the car on the limit and its never happened before. Puzzling, to say the least.

Anyway, thanks for your input.

Check the oil level then mate. Oh, and make sure the oil is in good condition.
