Spools the turbo up a fraction of a second quicker, and by fraction i mean a very small ammount, 0.something of a second quicker i've heard, but still better.
Not sure about other benifits, some bypass valves (Dump Valves) can make cars run less smooth due to the default ECU settings, something to do with air flow readings.

Bypass valves just sound cool :P.

A recirculation valve recirculates pressure (Air) back into the system therefore spooling the turbo quicker, a bypass dumps it in to the atmosphere, it doesn't recirculate.

I believe this info is correct!

Thanks,
Sam

VTA valve also dumps pre-metered air, which the ecu has already calculated the fuelling for. The air gets dumped, the fuel goes in: over fuelling, borewash, etc etc.

Does borewash cause any damage? I have a Turbosmart Megasonic VTA. Ive had it on the car for 6 months now and had no probs. I know it overfuels my car a little and it sometimes dets my exhaust ( which i like, because its my fake antilag lol).

Borewash can cause damage yes. But it will be ok in your car *probably*. Just the car won't run as smooth as it could be.....

When I first bought my car a few years ago it had a VTA on it, and I swapped it for a re-circ and it made the car so much better. I now don't run any valve now though.

It certainly CAN, and, given the cost of rebuilding, I'd not risk it. The first inkling you will have that all is not right, it'll be too late.......

Lots of people use bypass valves though. I guess if you have a bypass on and the car runs okay then it's fine, if it feels like it's running not so smooth then you should sort it out! It's what i'm going to do.

If you want the sound and security, the Turbosmart Dual port is both bypass and recirulating.

Can you not have a bypass valve mapped in?

Thanks,
Sam
