Default Is my clutch f**kd?......

the clutch was replaced by previous owner (reciepts to proove) around about 1 and a half years ago. However about 2 months ago after owning the car for 8 months the clutch is playing up it seems to judder a bit when going into first is not a clean bite also it seems to bite high up on the pedal. Can this be fixed or do i need a new clutch any ideas please guys.

you dont say if its a classic or newage.if its a newage there known for clutch shudder ,and replacing it with an OEM one means it will return ..does it do it more when cold as thats a normal sign .try starting the car pumping the pedal then try driving

it;s more anoying than anything else only true fix is an aftermarket one Subaru's fix was to replace with a heavy flywheel (means slower spin up) as long as theres no slip should be OK to drive until you can replace it.Drove mine for about a year like it

Im not sure about the classic mate ,all i can say most clutch shudder is the sign of a bent flywheel thats improves with temp (the newage one was made of tinfoil ) did the replacement that was done include flywheel if not I would start here .this is not unique to subaru's either MR2,MGF,Jag all suffer the same.

Wouldn't like to say for sure as I only know about my experiance with me bugeye ,basically replacing the clutch only judder goes away But the friction plate takes a beating from the bent flywheel after a period of time this bends the friction plate (judder returns ) and as I said drove mine like it for a while (just pumped pedal in the morning half a dozen times after starting ) meant no judder for the rest of the day and didnt cause any other damage.

Hi i had same problem with my bugeye 2001 wrx ppp. And the clutch release bearing was getting loud to. Just got a new organic exedy clutch and a light flywheel off ebay for £250! which i thought was very good!

That would indicate theres air in the system, First thing to do is give the clutch a good bleed, I would personally change the fluid for new stuff, Bleed out well insuring all the air is out and give that a try
