fit a bleed valve and turn the boost up to around 2.5 bar, that should give you loads more bhp for around 20 quid.

Not for the first 10 seconds
If you dont have a budget then dont modify, you can do things on the cheap but they normally end up costing you 10-20 times the price of the mod.
Also is your car an MY98 S or an MY99 S reg car?

Hmmmm ok, for a 98 model year car you would have 2 pot front brakes, a phase 1.5 engine and 380cc injectors (and a non mappable ecu) on an MY99 car you have a phase 2 engine, 440cc injectors and a mappable ecu.
Just saying its a 1998 s reg uk spec doesnt really do it, if its a MY98 car (the coil pack is centre on top of the engine) then thats ok, if its an MY99 S reg (phase 2 engine, coil pack is off set to the right when looking at the engine) then its a different matter again.

If you can tell us the exact model year then that would be helpful (not bothered what plate its on).

Ta,

Tony

Hmmm its new enough to be a 99 model, few givaways like the mono steering wheel, the 99 has a nice shiny centre and the 98 doesnt.
But we will work on it being a 98 car.
Best option is a full decat exhaust system, that normally free's a few horses, if its a 99 car then bin the induction kit, that will just frag engines
You just need to find a decent system to fit now not the most expensive of things.
If you also only have the 2 pot brakes (277mm v 294mm) then upgrade them, they really suck.

Unfortunately mate, you do have the MY98 variant, with the small 380cc injectors, unmappable ECU and rubbish 2-pots.

i would have said around 5 seconds at 2.5 bar.tbh there isnt that much further to go with it performance wise unless you want to start shelling out some cash.you could fit a decat down pipe, but then you really need to start looking at remapping it to suite the mods you have fitted,if your ecu can be mapped.i would say your best bet is to save up a bit first then do the obviouse things like fuel pump, decat system, remap then you will have a noticable difference in power.p.s i was joking about the bleed valve.

I wasn't rubbishing your car dude - just saying that the UK MY97/98 has lesser spec items on it, when compared to the UK MY99/00.

But as you're finding out, Impreza turbos, no matter which variant you've got, are a real hoot.

if you haven't got the money leave it as is. cheap, make power fast, fixes end up in tears and prove to be end of many an engine. then you have no car. trust me buying the car is not the hard part, its when you want to upgrade and the upkeep that's the wallet killer. Just enjoy the car for what it is, unless you have a boat load of money to throw at it.

I'd get it remapped yes... But before you do, whack in a decat downpipe, Walbro 255 fuel pump, fresh NGK PFR7B plugs, new fuel filter. But, you will also need a mappable ECU as well - the main cost-effective protagonists being the Apexi PFC or Simtek.

However, when all fitted/mapped, you'll be seeing c.280bhp - some 70 odd more bhp and similar increase in torque than what you've got at the mo.

If you have the moollah, then defo upgrade the brakes to the Subaru 4-pots/294mm discs.... or something even better like the K-sport kit...

back box does not need a remap. get rid of the induction kit and the dumpvalve. . the money you make on them selling them on gaybay will go toward a new set of subaru 4 pots.

mate its gay and does nothing for the street cred. replace the induction kit and put a good panel filter back in. put the OEM recirc back on. the back box is fine. a set of 4 pots with discs and pads are about £400. dont forget to allow for getting them fitted.

save your pennies. when you have enough for a downpipe and a new mappable ecu then get that done. suspension next. save a shed load more and the think about adding power.

you can get subaru 4 pot calipers and discs a subaru breaker a helluva lot cheaper than that mate. rear caliper you dont need to change.

are you thinking of the gold brembo 4 pot calipers. they need retro fitted on a classic.

check the godspeed site

yes mate. do the rears when you have 600bhp and you put a full 6 speed drive train in the car. when you change the rear hubs you can put the gold brembo rear calipers in then.
