Coilover Setup & Camber Setup
Right lads,
Only around two weeks before my first track day of the year, I've got everything nearly setup, just getting on with the fine tuning parts now.. So my first question is, I'm was thinking it is best to get the car sitting level all round (have the same height in the coilovers all round the car)
Now do i set it up level while there is no one in the car, or do i take measurements with me in the car and make it level from that? (as there will be more weight in the drivers side meaning the drivers side will be lower?)
On another note, been searching the forum for some decent camber/caster/toe settings, and there are so many different ones.... It seems most people go for -1.5 camber front/rear and 0 toe... Now this is going to be my dedicated track car, so not used on road, so not bothered about tyre wear... What would be the best settings for me to go for, just stick with the -1.5? - I've just fitted camber bolts to the rear, and also have some for the front... not the hole for the front camber bolt is massive (the new camber bolt just jumps around in the hole) does it go into the top bolt hole in the front or does it go into the bottom hole?

1. Is the bolt the right size ?
2. I'm no classic guru, but a certain 22B member told me to try -1.8 degrees @ the front, -1.6 degrees rear together with 0.5 mm of toe-in @ The front, and parallel rear.

P.S. There is no logical reason to set the ride height "level"....

2. I'll give that a try as I did see someone talk about that setup, as its supposed to be able to handle high speed cornering IIRC
3. I though having the ride height the same all round may help with cornering? Maybe not then.

PS i was going on a theory of a chair with one leg longer then the other, it wont be as balanced as a chair with all 4 legs of the same length... maybe im thinking about theory too much lol

Other PC is asleep... but front carries more weight and will transfer load under braking, but as for whether you would notice the difference between setting the ride height, loaded or unloaded is down to your "feel" for the car. Mine is just sat and I pedal it
Look at suspension providers web-sites, they MAY give you a suggested ride height, Tein do for mine. Google> Tein UK>GC8..... says 330 mm F&R so you were right !

Cant find anything on the Eibach website with regards to ride height, but found the Tein one... 330 from wheel centre sounds about right, will see what it's on at the moment and adjust accordingly... Can always change it easily enough if I dont like it.

You'll be calculating braking torques at the discs next.
1. Drive the thing.
2. Analyse what it's doing badly.
3. Ask someone who knows what they are doing ( John Felstead in my case ! )...
4. Adjust.
5. Enjoy.
