Default new idler bearings are stiff?

I'm about to fit all new idler bearings to my car, but noticed they are a lot stiffer than the ones I took off, is this normal? Before I could spin them with my hand and they'd keep spinning for a good bit when I stopped, does this mean they were knackered?

Is it just a case of the new bearings easing off once theyve been on for a while?

Any info would be great

Thanks

Ross

Yes its quite normal for the new idler bearings to be like that - you should find the old ones feel and sound harsh when spun by hand due to wear between the ball bearings and the inner and outer race and due to the grease in them going hard from the heat of the engine/age of the idler bearings.

No probs - you have done the right thing by replacing them by the sound of it
