Hi,
I tried my my air con today to find it was hot so just figured it needed regasing.
But i couldnt hear the relay kicking in or a change of speed in the fans so popped the bonnet and the bloody pump isn't kicking in!!!!

I checked the fuse which is fine and robbed my brothers relay (also same car as mine) ans still no joy.
So i put a volt meter on and i have a perminant feed of power to the relay but none going to the pump.

I have a 2004 blob wrx.
Please help i am stumped.

if there's no gas, the pump won't kick in

 

ooohhh ok i was hoping is was something simple. so a system regas should see the pump engage when i push the button?

 

the air con system has a pressure sensor which if no gas or to little gas will stop the pump from working.

go get it regased and whilst the regas is being done the aircon machine will also do a pressure/vacum test on your system checking for leaks .. if this is all ok the pump will then work

 

Mine wore the pipe away at the clip on the nearside chassis rail....

After 7 & 3/4 years of abuse.

P.S. Mine passed a vacuum test, but leaked under pressure.
