Normal Unleaded and Meths?
As V-Power is a pain for me to get as there is nothing local....Plus when I go on long trips it's also a pain looking for Shell garages all the time.
Is an option to get it mapped on Normal Unleaded, with added meths (or e85) to get the RON value back up to 99 or 100??
I know you can get octane boosters, but for the decent makes these are expensive too.
How much meths/e85 would be needed per tank to take it to 99 RON if using normal 95 unleaded?
That may be a stupid thought, but just wondering really

Cheers for the reply Banny I forgot I'd posted this, but got thinking again tonight about it.
Does anyone know what Octane rating a 95 fuel would go to, with say 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% of meths??
Cheers

Why not give yourself a head start and start off with an extra 2 RON by getting mapped on x% of 97 RON (not 95) + y% of meths?! Will make more power/torque for any given petrol/meth ratio...
Seems daft not to, seeing as you'd be going to all the trouble of having to buy the meths/mixing at the station, etc., etc...

I don't do tons of miles, but the nearest Shell garage is a 45 mile round trip, and I get 180miles from a tank, so it doesn't seem to last long. Also joz, the 97ron garages are even further away unfortunately.
So thought about being able to will up anyway, and carry a couple of 5L drums of Meths.
I'd get the meths from Jennychem or what ever is is called. But it might be hassle doing that too
DaOne, isn't NF about £12-15 a pot? Does it really work too?
Cheers for the replies

Sunny Whitby by the sea. We have 3 petrol stations here, but all just have 95RON. Quite annoying as we use to have a Shell garage about 8 years ago, but they sold it and a Spar shop bought it
There is a depot which sells Aviation fuel though, it that would work!! lol.

Yeah that's it Joz!
Good idea Banny. That's what I was think with the Syvvecs, as you can have up to 8 maps on that, so could have quite a few options then!!

The difference between 10% and 20% is 5litre and 10 litres though, so could do with knowing what would be needed really to make sure it was at least 99RON.
Might be more hassle than it's worth really?! It's just on long jorneys it's a PITA looking and waiting for Shell garages. It would be nice to just be able to stop at any garage!! Maybe that's where an octane booster should be used?! Although these aren't cheap for NF stuff, which I've read is the best. It sort of add's £10-15 extra to a tank using octane booster.

Methanol RON is 133

Not sure how to calculate how much you need as the energy value of the fuel decreases per volume as the methanol is added.
NF is a lot easier to carry about LOL

That's the beauty of meth - it's about half the price of petrol (from memory - well significantly less anyway)... so you save money on every fill-up, whilst also gaining more power (becuse of the remap on the brew).
But you're right - you really need to know what, say, 20% meth + 80% 95 RON works out as the aggregate RON value. If it don't get to near 99/100, then is it worth all of the ballache?
