Default Dum dum dumming!

My 98 Turbo 2000 Wagon has just started making a strange noise.

It sounds like its coming from the back somewhere and it gets faster as the wheels turn faster and slows as the wheels slow.

It sounds like a dull Dum Dum Dum and you can sometimes actually slightly feel it inside the car.

I checked all the wheel nuts just to make sure it wasnt the wheel that was loose and they were all fine and tight, so now im completely stumped as ive not come across this problem before.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

does the noise change if you apply footbrake and/or handbrake while driving?(dont yank the handbrake on lol)if so it could narrow down possibilities.

Thanks for that, and ill give it a try tomorrow.

Im sure that it dosnt change with the foot brake, but i will try applying the handbrake while im driving.

I must admit that the handbrake is very very keen, so im gonna have to be carefull.
Dont want any 4wd dirty drifting now do we? lol.

on the rear behind the disc's there are the hand brake shoes which could be low
or one of the spring could of broke causing this kind of noise
i had a smiliar problem,if the spring which holds the shoes in place has broken
it would let the shoes push against the inside of the disc and as the disc is going around
the shoes will be trying to move with the disc.

if you know what i mean lol.

My missis hast just given birth to my little lad so my head has been up my *** for the past few days!

But im gonna get onto it asap because its doing my head in not knowing what it is and also want it to be safe for my woman to drive it.

And also the noise doesnt change if i apply the hand brake or foot brake either.
