Default turbo upgrade

i want to upgrade my turbo

i have a v1 sti with i think a tdo4 16g - or is it a tdo5? any1 know what it should be.

anyway im looking at uprating it soon.

my mods are fmic, apexi ecu and avcr, feul pump , plugs ect to be fitted

im away next week to get my headers and upipe done by harvey

also got 660cc inj and sourcing a z32 maf just now.

what turbo would people reccomend?

would like quickest spool possible with reasonable peak power, my engine prob cant take too much more boost than its on im led to beleive.

with my turbo being 16 years old, id imagine its past its best anyway.

18G or a VF34. You should have a TD05 16G on your V1.

Yep AF's 18g - or harvey's one. I know that harvey's has exh inlet and w/g ported.

I don't think there'll be any tangible difference between them 'in feel' on the road.

Personally i would go for the 18G as i know what they are capable of. Early spool & still can make 370-380. Dont bother with any ebay ones.

16g is going to give you the best spool at the power level (330) that doesn't involve your clutch and box going pop !

Wot clutch you got ? at the point at which the 18g becomes a better choice than the 16, I reckon it will eat your early classic box .

Is your spool a problem post FMIC ?

Cool, I had the exedy put in mine last month with a 6.3kg flywheel and it's pretty damn rapid. I am pretty confident that a bigger turbo would kill my close 95STi box going on the ability of the rev/speedo to keep pace.

lol my exedy has been in for a few years but its only covered 5k odd miles.

cross that bridge when i come to it lol.

tbh the ra box is a pain in the as* , 5th gear is just too short,

ill be changing to something better suited come the bang time lol.
