hi newbie saying hi,
i have a wrx 06 running 301 bhp.
owned it 3 months and put up with it occasionally hunting between 0 and 800 rpm but now it bugs me .
last straw today pulled in work to show it off and it sounds like bag ***** annoying thing is it only happens every now and again HELP its driving me nuts.
it has been beautiffully tuned and set up and i love it .
hope you can help me and does anyone meet up in the staffs area .

Welcome to the forum, whats the spec/ modification's ?

 

are you running a vta dumpvale

 

I would start with cleaning the idle control valve (icv)...

 

or take it to CHEVRON MOTORSPORT simon wil sort it for you mate.

 

i bought the car as completed it has a dump valve , k&n induction massive exhaust dont really know what the makes are ,1st scooby .
where is the idle speed control valve please and what do you clean it with ?????

Does the car have a vent to air dump valve? - i.e. does it make a loud "PTSSSSSSSHHH" noise on gear changes when driving hard?

If so, get rid of it & refit the original Subaru recirculate valve, if you have it or get one second hand. Vent to Air (VTA) dump valves can cause rough running & potentially an engine failure.

Perhaps if you take a picture of your engine bay & post it up here we might be able to identify the valve as a VTA.
