I have had my car (MY99) for about a week and I have been using optimax since I got the car. I have filled up the tank twice. The previous owner was using unleaded. Question is:-

Do I still need to reset the ECU? OR
Is the ECU capable of re-mapping the new fuel?

If I need to reset the ECU how would I go about it and will it mess up my Sigma Cat 1 alarm.

Cheers.

Your ECU will take ages to learn the better feul so you will have to do a reset on your ECU.

Dont worry about the alarm it will not be effected by the reset.

I did an ECU reset (disconnect the bat for 1 hr and started and let it idle for 10 mins), and it screwed my GT cat 1 alarm up - it would always go off when I started the car after that initial time - but this happened for about half a day and then it cured itself. I'm reluctant to do another ECU reset.

Reset it using the under dash connectors - takes 10 mins - once you've found them
